Up for adoption in Texas and New England--- oh she's a looker! Her name is Darcy and she typed up a bit of info she wanted you to know about her! She hopes someone out there reads it, falls in love and adopts her! Take it away Darcy...
"Hi, my name is Darcy. Like most Lucky Labs, I’ve had some challenges in my life, and I’m only one year old!! I can’t really talk about my first 5 months, but around that time I ended up alone in a a far south Texas shelter. Even though I look pretty cute, I was really shy, and no one adopted me for 2 months. Just when the shelter was deciding to put me on death row, Lucky Lab noticed me, and I made the long trip up to north Texas to be with my foster family.
Even though I was scared to death in those early days, I loved to be cuddled by my foster mom, and especially like to snuggle with her at night or if she’s sitting around reading a book or watching TV. I’m also happy just sleeping somewhere else in the house, and I really don’t like to bark much at all. I’ve grown to love the rest of my foster family. I’m no more shy around men than I am around women.
I’m only 48 pounds and I have a compact solid little body, with the softest, silkiest fur and ears for petting. I am fine staying unconfined in the house when my family is gone with some fun toys, but wow, am I glad to see them when they come home!
Over the months I’ve had lots of foster brothers and sisters that are labs, and a corgi that lives here too. I’ve come to realize that I'm a shy girl looking a quieter home to call my own. I bond strongly to my family and would like to be the only dog. Visiting dogs are fine with me because I don’t have to share them with my humans. I’m even a little shy with them too.
Young children might frighten me but I think I'd enjoy the extra attention of a few older ones. I don't need to go to the local park or out to eat with you, too many scary sounds but I'd really love to go for walks or runs on a leash in the neighborhood, play in the yard and check out nature, then finish with some cuddles.
I hope I can find my forever home soon, so I can share lots of quiet and fun times with those very special humans who love me for who I am.
