Up for adoption in Texas: Jax.

Jax is about five-years-old and weighs 81 pounds.

Jax has quite an incredible story! We saved him from a crowded animal shelter-- by mistake! Lucky Lab sent in an email to save a black Lab at the shelter. Our foster went to the shelter to pick up that dog and the shelter gave her Jax by mistake.

Once she got home and looked at the shelter paperwork she realized what happened. But we did not and could not return Jax to that high kill shelter, so what did we do? We kept him and then went back and picked up the dog we originally intended to save. So it became a two-fer rescue.

When we first got Jax he was scared and shy at first. A wonderful foster for Lucky Lab who runs an animal sanctuary offered to foster Jax. He blossomed there. Jax had space to roam around and learn that many people are good.

We believe Jax is a dog who wants a job and wants to be mentally stimulated.

His foster mom says:

"Jax is a very special handsome stud! He is the most protective but sweetest dog you will meet! He absolutely loves kids and people. He loves sitting on your feet!

However he does not liked to be grabbed by the collar and loves to do his own thing. Jax would do great on some land to patrol.

His soul purpose in life is to protect his family and love on kiddos. He is great with other dogs and cats at the sanctuary.

He is a little tricky to get on a leash but once you get him he’s fine on a leash but does not like to grabbed by his collar. He prefers to be outside pretty much at all times, supervised of course. He would do wonderful with a laid back family and room to run! Jax is a great unique soul and would be a wonderful companion."

We don't think Jax would do well in a farm kind of setting with chickens, bird, piggies, etc. We'd recommend a home with adults or adults and older kids.

He is neutered, vaccinated, microchipped and house broken. He's not a fan of crates.
