Up for adoption in Texas: Ivy.

Ivy is a beautiful black lab mix, about two years old, weighing 40 pounds. She is house-broken and crate-trained, as well as up-to-date on her vaccinations and heart-worm negative.

Ivy is friendly and attentive to people. She loves to cuddle and will climb up on your lap if you let her. She is very treat-oriented, great for training!

Her foster parents have already (nearly) trained her to wait by her dinner when told “sit” and “stay.”

She is gentle, but has a habit of using her mouth when playing. Her foster parents have worked to break her of that habit, but occasionally it still comes out.

Ivy also has a great sense of curiosity and is obviously an intelligent dog. She’s a “prairie dogger,” standing on her hind legs to see what is in someone’s hands or on a table or counter. Even though she sniffs, she has never taken any food she hasn’t been explicitly given.

If allowed, Ivy would be a stereotypical squirrel and car chaser, and is super interested in her foster parents’ cat. Although she is not hostile to the cat, she would chase it if she could. With time and an no-nonsense, stand-your-ground cat, she would learn to tolerate one. But every cat is different, so we can't guarantee purrrrfect placement.

We think Ivy was kept alone and outside before she came to Lucky Lab Rescue. She barks and growls at other dogs when on a leash, but has had good interactions at the dog park.

She needs more socialization with dogs and would thrive in a home with a bigger, older dog who would be who can show her the ropes. We can arrange a meet and greet for her if an adopter currently owns a dog.

She is spayed, vaccinated, microchipped and housebroken. Apply at www.luckylabrescue.com
