Age: 18 months
Godiva is a beautiful 18 month old girl who was returned to our rescue after being adopted with a littermate as a young puppy. Godiva did not receive the socialization necessary to help her grow into a secure, confident girl and was quite fearful when she arrived at her foster home.
Godiva has been in her current foster home for the past 3 months where she has had daily opportunities to experience the outside world. She loves going in the car and does well on shorter trips around town, has been to the lake in Maine several times and has even traveled to Pennsylvania and back. She sits or sleeps quietly just content to be with her person. Initially Godiva would dig her heels in and not budge when it was time to go for a walk. She has had repeated exposures to new situations like hanging out at the town wharf to watch the boaters; walks around town during quieter times of day and two mile walks in the woods. Godiva walks well on a leash and would make a great hiking, walking and eventually maybe even a running partner. She also loves to play ball in the yard.
Godiva has been working with a trainer too help build her confidence around people and other dogs. She can be timid and shy in new situations and needs time to warm up to people. Godiva has been spending time at doggie daycare and gets along well with other dogs and has recently been giving kisses to staff members. All of the staff love her and can’t wait to share her latest accomplishment. Godiva would greatly benefit from someone with a lot of patience and dog experience to continue building her confidence.
Godiva is a very special girl and loves to spend time with her human. She would be considered a medium energy girl who enjoys her daily walks and ball games in the back yard but is then quite content to snuggle right up on the couch and will shower you with puppy kisses!! Godiva would do best in a quieter household as an only dog. She is playful, smart, funny and will be an amazing companion!!
Godiva is crate trained, house trained, spayed, microchipped, up to date on vaccinations and has been kept on heart worm and flea and tick preventative.
