She would do well in a home with lots of people to love on

her and pets to play with, or a mature couple or single who has lots of time to spend with her. She would stay right by your side.

Piper is a 7 year old beautiful female yellow Lab, who was rescued from a high-kill shelter near the Texas-Mexico border. She weighs about 65 lbs.

This poor girl seems to have been used as a puppy factory for most of her life, possibly tied or chained up.

It seems she was given very little love and attention, because she soaks it in as much as possible now. Wherever you are, she wants to be there with you. She will not jump on you for attention, but might give you a lick or a nudge with her front paw.

She is having a wonderful time in her foster home playing with dogs of all sizes as much as possible. With her extensive mommy background, she is patient with other dogs, and corrects them if they are being rude, with just the right amount of assertiveness, never aggressiveness.

She loves to be outside with other dogs, retrieve a ball, go for a walk, and can watch for squirrels or other interesting sights with or without doggy company.

She knows the sit and stay commands, and is very motivated by treats to learn more. She is very good watchdog and barks when she hears or sees something unusual, but quiets quickly if she receives the ‘all clear’.

She has not been around cats. She is house trained, and will go in crate if needed, but has full run of her foster’s house with no accidents.

She may have a little early stiffness in her legs. This does not limit her in play or running, but she does not want to jump onto furniture unless encouraged.

Piper is now spayed, vaccinated and microchipped. You'll find her in her foster home playing with her dog siblings as well as chewing on durable bones and toys, when she’s not resting close by her humans.
