Leia is a gorgeous, 14 month old female yellow lab.  She was surrendered to LLR by an elderly couple who developed some health issues and couldn’t exercise Leia enough because of her higher energy level.  She has been very well cared for and is up to date on vaccinations and has been seen regularly at the veterinarian office.  Leia is a very loving girl who is absolutely wonderful with people.  She LOVES to run and play with other dogs!!!  In her current foster home she wrestles and plays chasing games with her 8 month old foster sibling who is much smaller than she is. Leia also loves to play ball and chew on squeaky toys though they may not last long.

Leia would do well in a household with another young dog to play with.  Due to her size she would be more appropriate for families with older children as she can get excited around her people and be a little bit jumpy.  Leia still has some puppy energy and will need daily walks or hikes and maybe a large fenced in yard to expend some of her energy.  She would thrive in doggy daycare because of her sweet disposition.  Because Leia loves people and companionship she does not enjoy being by herself for long periods of time.  This is perhaps the only trigger that makes her bark, other than a playful bark to initiate play with another pup.

Leia walks with a harness and may initially pull due to her anticipation of a walk.  She lays down and rides quietly in the car.  She is not a big fan of her crate but will have some chill time there after she has been exercised appropriately. Leia is still a very young girl and would benefit from some obedience training.  She is very treat motivated, she can be a bit of a counter surfer, but she is very smart and aims to please.
