Available for adoption in the Midwest and New England
Max is a striking one year old chocolate boy and weighs approximately 60 pounds. He came into Lucky Lab Rescue as an owner surrender and had spent most of his time outdoors, tied up. Max was surrendered to animal control for jumping up on young children.
Max’s nicknames include “wiggle butt” and “Mr. Personality” and he LOVES to be the center of attention. He dances around, smiling when he is getting loved on, and wants to be close to his people. Max is a curious, smart pup who is very interested in what is going on. His foster mom says he is very well behaved for a young lab who hasn’t previously lived indoors.
Max gets along well with the dogs in his foster home. He likes to play tug of war, has figured out how to play/shred squeaky toys, and is always ready for a good game of fetch. Max would be considered a medium energy boy and is very puppy like in his play and some behaviors. He can be vocal at times as if “talking” to his people and still has his puppy bark.
Max is looking for an active family who will take him on hikes and long walks, or play fetch with him in the backyard. His foster mom believes he would love a family with children. Max likes to cuddle and snuggle and he turns into a lap dog when he is sleepy. He is afraid of cars in general but should learn to relax and enjoy car rides if he is going someplace with his people.
Being a smart boy, Max has learned routines and commands quickly. He know sit, stay, off, go, eat, water, outside, come, kennel up and night, night. Max listens well, but needs to know who is in charge because if he knows he can get away with something, he will. He will benefit from obedience training to help him with his leash training and to further refine his house manners.
Max is house/crate trained, neutered, up to date on vaccinations, micro chipped and on heartworm/tick preventative.
