Event Volunteers: Meet & Greets can be a lot fun!  For these events, we need individuals who can help us handle a dog or two during the event.  This also involves talking with people who are interested in adoption or want to know more about our organization.  The other needs we have at events include watering and walking the dogs and in general, taking care of the dogs.

Fundraising: As always, there are many expenses in caring for rescued dogs from food, vet care, collars, leashes, cages and general day-to-day items needed to take care of each dog.  Our adoption fees usually do not cover all of our expenses so we rely on donations and on fundraising events.  We are looking for creative individuals to help us with these events and brainstorm unique ideas.

Transporting: Like hitting the open road?  We have the perfect opportunity for you!  We need people who would be willing to pick up dogs from shelters here in the Midwest (mainly Southern Indiana and Illinois ).  Many dogs do not have much time to make it out of the shelter so transporters need to be somewhat flexible in what days and time they are available to pick up dogs.  Also needed are people willing to take dogs to their new forever homes.

Veterinarian Scouts: The Veterinarian Scout's immediate focus will be to search for new veterinarians in the Indianapolis metro area and/or New Castle area that can offer us reasonable prices and availability for spay/neuters, and minor medical treatment. Every so often we rescue a lab that is in need of extreme care (e.g. broken bones, puncture wounds, severe lacerations). For these types of cases, having a vet or two who can donate their services is most helpful to Lucky Lab.

Grant Writing: We are looking for someone experienced in the grant writing for non-profits that can either write or consult on our grant writing efforts.

Professionals: As we focus all of our efforts on saving Labs, we will need additional help with back-office services such as updating our website, graphic design, accounting, marketing, and publicity. We also need help promoting our events by distributing flyers and posting online listings.

If you are able to help in any of these areas, please contact us at luckylabs@luckylabrescue.com.

Success Story: Duncan

DuncanDuncan bounded off the transport van and into my life in October 2008. His immense energy, unconditional love, and gentle soul have added so much love and joy to my world. Duncan enjoys nothing more than playing ball, taking a swim, and going for long hikes. At the end of a day, he loves to cuddle on the couch - he is my hundred-pound lap dog! There isn't a day that goes by that I am not eternally grateful to Lucky Lab for saving Duncan and bringing us together. - Christy Glover
